This documentation is for CCXML 1.0-Voxeo, which has been superceded by CCXML 1.0-W3C. The CCXML-Voxeo platform is not being updated any longer. The CCXML 1.0-W3C version, however, has many new features and is actively being enhanced. If you're writing a new CCXML application, you should use CCXML 1.0-W3C. Click here for the CCXML 1.0-W3C documentation.

Introduction to CCXML Event Handling

Event handling is the very backbone of the CCXML markup. Remember, one of the main points of using CCXML is to incorporate the ability to catch asynchronus events, and appropriately handle them so that we can gain a higher level of control over our voice applications. It is therefore wise to point out just how crucial the next two lessons are in regards to understanding how CCXML can extend the abilities of your voice applications.

As such, the next Lesson will school you in the very basic syntax of 'clean' event handling. We also provide a more in-depth look at event handling in the succeeding Lesson, where advanced events are covered and illustrated in fine detail. In short, the 'core' code presented in the next two Lessons should be used as a base template for any and all CCXML applications that you intend to deploy.
