How to: Copy Virtual Platform Resources

When adding new Virtual Platforms with similar or duplicate Resources, or Virtual Platforms for testing or development in a Community, it can be time consuming to configure each Virtual Platform with the same Resource settings.

By using the Copy Resources From command, you can reduce configuration time and virtually eliminate configuration errors. To complete this procedure, you must have already created a Virtual Platform, and have another existing Virtual Platform to copy Resources from. If you need to create a new Virtual Platform, see How to: Create a New Virtual Platform. This topic describes how to copy the Resources in one Virtual Platform to another.

Note: You cannot copy Resources to a Virtual Platform that already contains Resources. To use the Copy Resources From command, you must delete any existing Resources in the Virtual Platform that you want to copy to, save the Virtual Platform changes, and then click the Copy Resources From icon.

The following illustration is an example of the Select Virtual Platform dialog used to copy the Resources from the Virtual Platform named Default.

Complete the steps in the following procedure to copy the Resources from a Virtual Platform to another Virtual Platform in your Community,

To copy Virtual Platform Resources

  1. On the Prophecy Commander toolbar, click the Servers module icon, click the Virtual Platform List page, and then select a Virtual Platform that want to copy Resources to.
The Edit Virtual Platform panel is displayed.
  2. On the toolbar, click the Copy Resources From icon.
The Select virtual platform dialog is displayed.
  3. In the Virtual Platform drop-down list, select a Virtual Platform to copy Resources from, and then click Ok.
