Resources are named Virtual Services mapped to a prioritized Prophecy Resource on the Virtual Platform used to run your voice applications. After you have installed your service on a server, you can create a Resource using the Name that the voice application will request, to map the service to the Resource on the Virtual Platform. When you create a Resource and map services to the Resource, it is immediately advertised on your Virtual Platform to voice applications. This topic describes how to create a new Resource and prioritize the Virtual Services for your Virtual Platform.
You cannot create more than one instance of a Resource with the same Name on a Virtual Platform.
When you create a new Resource, you must also map services to that Resource provided by a Group, and then assign a Priority to that Virtual Service. Groups containing duplicate services, and have the same Priority, are load balanced between Groups. Multiple Groups with the same services, and different Priorities, will failover to the Group with the higher Priority number. For example, if Group 1 is Priority 3 and Group 2 is also Priority 3, a Resource request is load balanced between the two Groups. For failover, if Group 1 is Priority 1 and Group 2 is Priority 2, a Resource request is sent to Group 1 until a request fails, and then it is sent to Group 2. For more information, see How to: Load Balance Resource Groups and How to: Setup Failover for Resource Groups.
The Name field is the name that you use in your voice application to request that Resource. You do not have to match the name of the service mapped to the Resource.
The following illustration shows an example of the New Resource dialog used to add a new ASR Resource, called Spanish that is mapped to Group 1 that contains one or more servers installed with the Nuance ASR 9.0 - Spanish (US) service.
