Installing Prophecy 9 on Windows

Note: This applies to all currently supported versions of Windows - 2000 Server, 2003 Server, 2008 Server*, XP, Vista and Windows 7. You will need to be logged in as a user that is part of the admin group to install Prophecy.

* Windows Web Server 2008 is not supported due to Microsoft's licensing agreement:

Windows Web Server 2008 is specifically designed to be used as a single-purpose Web server.  Licensing terms for Windows Web Server 2008 clarify that the server software may only be used for Internet-accessible front-end web serving of Web pages, Web sites, Web applications, Web services, and POP3 mail serving. Additionally, Windows Web Server 2008 licensing is enhanced to allow any type of database software on the server software with no limit on the number of users.

If you haven't already downloaded the latest build here go ahead and download it to your desktop now.

Double-click the installer and we should see the installer open and begin preparing the install.

Note: For Windows 7/Vista/Server 2008, you may receive a UAC popup noting you need admin privlieges. Click Allow to start the installation

Please click Next.

Read/Accept the EULA and then click Next.

Here you can change the installation folder, however it is highly recommend that you keep the default path, C:\Program Files\Voxeo.

The installer will now check you have enough available disk space. The typical install will take up about 1.5 gigabytes of drive space. It is recommended that you have at least 40-80GB of available space on the drive for logs and other data.

The actual install begins.

Once the install is complete, Prophecy attempts to start all services. If you see an error starting any service on the bottom right of your screen, make a note of it and contact support@voxeo.com.

Assuming there were no errors, the Install Complete screen displays. Click Done and Prophecy opens your browser and takes you to the Prophecy home page.

Welcome to Prophecy 9!

If we see this screen, Prophecy is up and running and ready to take calls! Right-click on the Prophecy tray icon and open up the Prophecy SIP phone. Make a call to sip:user@127.0.0.1 to verify.
