Configuring your applications

A call route tells Prophecy which application to play when a call is received on a specific telephone number, or when an outbound call is placed via a specified token.

To change an application, make sure you edit all associated fields within that application. The following table explains the configuration settings.

Option Description
Name A name for the application. This name will be used for reporting, logging and monitoring.
Type The type of the application. This tells Prophecy which browser to use to interpret your application. Your options are:
  • CCXML
  • CallXML
  • VXML
  • SCXML
  • Designer
Make sure you select the correct type for the XML in your application. In cases of a mismatch, you will probably get a "Remote number is busy" error when testing with the Voxeo SIP phone, or in the logs you will see a SIP 603 error ("Call Rejected").
URL The URL where the application can be reached. You can point to an internal Prophecy server or an external web server (for example, on your web hosting account). Optionally up to two failover URLs can be specified for use when a fetch from a URL fails.

Be mindful of things like file size and fetch times if you are using an external URL, as you will want to cache as much as possible.
Auto Answer For CallXML applications only. Otherwise, leave blank.

This is the same as having answeronmedia="true". If you are using a VoiceMXL or CCXML application, you do not need to check this box.
Routes The telephone numbers (for inbound calls) or token (for outbound calls) for which the application should be played.

Tip:  If you only have one application, set the application as your default route. Prophecy will play it regardless of what phone number was dialed. To define a default route enter an asterisk (*), or wildcard, in the route field.

Using a Designer Application

Designer applications work slightly different than other application types. With Designer, you won't need to enter a URL because the system already knows where to find your application. Instead, simply select an application from the drop down list and select the version you want to use. Now you can develop and test new versions without affecting what customers hear until you are ready.
