So you're new to Designer? In that case you're about to embark on an exciting journey with this easy to use user interface-based, Voxeo-developed tool for VoiceXML. Introductions aside, let's get down and dirty. Below you'll find a description and detailed breakdown of Designer's options when you first crack it open.
Manage Projects:
The name of this option is pretty descriptive. When you open it you'll be able to see all of the projects you have built in Designer. You can do several things to these files by clicking on them and choosing one of the buttons below the selection menu. New Project: If you're looking to start a fresh new project click this and you'll start off with a blank slate. Open Project: Here you can open up another one of your projects by selecting it from the menu above. Remove Project: This takes the selected project out of your menu and deletes it for good. Use with discretion! Create Backup: This will create a backup file of the selected project that you can use to transfer to another computer, upload to Evolution, or just keep as an older version for a backup. Cancel: This will close out the Manage Projects window and return you to the main menu.
Quick Start:
Clicking this will bring up a window that provides some splendid help for those just getting started with Designer by providing quick run down. It's also the first thing you'll see when firing up Designer. At the top there are three icons that will allow you to: Create a new project, open an existing project, or contact support. Clicking Support will take you right to the support forums on Evolution, but we'll cover support next.
Support:
If you need a hand with Designer, clarification on something, or are wondering why your project is acting funny, click here to experience Voxeo's 24/7 Extreme Support! In our Designer Support forum, you can post questions or comments on that cool new project you just finished by clicking on the first link. However if you feel your problem is more private you can open up an account ticket that only you and Voxeo's support team can see and respond to by clicking on the second link.
Reporting:
When you click on Reporting it will open up a menu that will list all of your current projects. On the bottom right you will notice a few buttons. Clicking on a project and hitting the Add button will take you to a window in which you can add a fresh new report to that project. Edit will let you edit a report attached to that project. Remove will remove the report attached to the project. Finally, Done will close out the window.
When you click to add a report you are taken to another menu. Let's take a look at the options under each category and what they do:
Frequency: Use this to control how frequently the type of report is sent; you can have one sent every day, or as little as once a year and just about everything in between. Format: What format in which the report will be delivered: CSV, HTML, or XML Language: Set the language of the report. Time Zone: Set the time zone you would like to appear on your reports for ease of tracking calls without the hassle of checking Google for time zone differences. Project: Select the project for which you would like reporting.
Next you will see a place to list the people you wish to have the report mailed to. To add a recipient, click the Add button at the bottom right. This will bring up a new window where you can enter an e-mail you would like to sent the report to. You can also remove a selected recipient by clicking on it in the box above it and then clicking Remove. When you're done, don't forget to save!
Transcription:
If you have a transcription step in your project (don't worry, we'll cover all the different steps you can add in the next chapter), this is where you can find the recordings that your transcription step will make. Select a file via the check box, then click Next. You can now listen to the audio that was recorded and enter a name for that recording. Once you have entered a name, hit Next and the recording will save.
