Typical License Issues

Included without charge with Prophecy 9 is 30 day zero registration license. At any time during or after the 30 day period, you may choose to register Prophecy for a free non-expiring license.

License issues is a more common problem that Prophecy Developers might see. If you're receiving messages like "out of ports" in your logs or calls are failing under high volume, you may need to purchase a license with more ports. You can purchase up to 20 ports via the Registration link on the Prophecy home page. If you require more than 20 ports, please contact the Voxeo Sales team

Services do not start

If the Prophecy Services do not start, this may be due to an invalid license. To check this, open a command prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac/Linux).

In Mac OS X and Linux, run /opt/voxeo/prophecy register to check the validity of the license:

prophecy:voxeo prophecy$ ./prophecy register

Things that can invalidate Prophecy licenses

In Prophecy 9, the licensing is no longer bound solely to the MAC address. Instead, it is bound to multiple pieces of hardware and OS settings and the Prophecy install ID. These elements are weighted to allow for minor hardware changes without invalidating the installed license. So, unlike Prophecy 8, replacing your network card does not invalidate the license. However, major hardware replacement or re-installing Prophecy will create a new system ID and require a replacement license.
