The Prophecy SIP Application Server supports least-cost and multi-network call routing with the ENUM route directory standard. Voxeo’s SIP Application and Media Servers are part of the Prophecy Platform.
The Voxeo architecture is built entirely on SIP and has a number of benefits over both pre-SIP VoiceXML deployments and pre-CCXML softswitch deployments, including:
Completely programmable call control and routing using high-level CCXML scripts, as opposed to low-level message oriented SIP APIs
Integration with both next-generation SIP telephony deployments and traditional PSTN deployments
Call control application portability across both SIP and PSTN networks thanks to CCXML’s abstract call model
Support for custom, low-level SIP messages – as needed – using Voxeo’s SIP CCXML Event I/O Processor extensions (Voxeo has proposed these extensions to be part of the CCXML 1.1 standard)
Separation of back-end application routing logic from the core Softswitch platform, enabling centralized call control deployments that can be driven by a wide variety of distributed enterprise systems and custom, per-call routing applications. This model allows hosted call control deployments to be driven by enterprise web applications – just as VoiceXML allows hosted IVR platforms to be driven by enterprise web applications
Utilization of the ENUM DNS standard for data-driven inbound and outbound call routing plans
A tiered deployment architecture that easily scales by adding additional CCXML softswitch, VoiceXML/SCXML, media server, or ENUM DNS servers at any time
SIP and CCXML
Voxeo’s Prophecy SIP Application Server software is built on our proven Call Control XML (CCXML) engine, which has routed more than one billion calls since its first production deployment in early 2002. CCXML lets any company create intelligent, dynamic SIP applications that can screen, route, transfer, and initiate SIP VoIP calls – including SIP redirect, proxy, and Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA) applications.
Additionally, Voxeo’s CCXML engine includes enhancements that give CCXML applications complete control over SIP calls, including control over every SIP transaction, message, and header. Voxeo’s CCXML platform provides programmable SIP softswitching with or without media.
Voxeo has used this capability to create a Session Border Controller that it deploys in its hosting environment. Our customers have used it to create IP-based PBX, ACD, predictive dialer, and intelligent call routing applications. Voxeo anticipates that our customers will continue to build innovative solutions using SIP softswitching embedded with IVR.
