Token Tester

The Token Tester allows for quick and easy testing of outbound calls. Before you can use the Token Tester you will need to ensure you have configured an outbound gateway. More information about outbound configuration can be found in the VOIP tab of the Prophecy Management Console or in config.xml.

There are many ways to connect to the POTS including use of a PBX, SIP gateway, Analog phone lines, and VOIP providers. All of these are covered in our How to connect to the PSTN section.

How to use the Token Tester

To use the Token Tester enter a 10-digit phone number to dial. If you require a 1 or 9 to be dialed please make sure you have this configured in your "outbound dial prefix" field in your VoIP configuration.

The best practice for using this tool is to also open the Prophecy Log Viewer so you can have an active log of any calls you place. This will aid you when troubleshooting any issue. If you are unable to place an outbound call please see Appendix H: Troubleshooting section of the docs.

Once you have the Prophecy Log Viewer open you are ready to place a call. Please enter the 10-digit number and click the Test button.  You should see a "Success" or "Failed" message indicating how your call was handled.

You can also dial using the SIP syntax. To dial a SIP number use the following format: sip:4079994444@127.0.0.1:5070

Dialing sip:user@127.0.0.1:5070 used to call my (Prophecy) softphone on Windows, but on Macs using SJphone it doesn't.  Are the port numbers for the SJphone different?

Hello,

SJPhone will always attempt to bind port 5060 and as far as I know, there is no way to change that. What I recommend doing is using the built-in SIP phone on Prophecy OS X. Open a terminal and
cd /opt/voxeo
./prophecy start vphone &
Now open a browser and open the URL
http://127.0.0.1:9994/vphone
This should bring up the flash SIP phone, which is listening on port 5070. You should be able to place calls to this phone just as you would with Prophecy on Windows.
