If you use VoIP phone service, you can connect Prophecy to TDM networks. A VoIP provider converts traditional TDM circuits to VoIP.
VoIP Provider Compatibility Rules
When selecting a VoIP provider, keep in mind they need to support the following:
SIP, as defined in RFC 3261 (Session Initiation Protocol)
DTMF, as defined in RFC 2833; this is only required if your applications need to detect or transmit DTMF tones.
One of these audio codecs - G.711 ulaw, G.711 alaw, or GSM
How to tell whether your VoIP provider "speaks SIP"
The best way to verify that a provider is configured correctly is to open the Prophecy Log Viewer and simply wait a few moments. Prophecy will continuously try to REGISTER with any configured provider. Without any call traffic running, you should be able to see SIP registration messages (REGISTER) and any errors that might occur.
