The direct interaction you have with your calls - saying something to them, playing audio, asking questions, recording their replies - covers the majority of the functions you'll need to create creative and powerful applications. There are, however, a few additional functions you'll often need, especially for business applications - transferring, rejecting and conferencing. Each controls the call flow, determining where a call is supposed to go once it comes in, as opposed to interacting with the call once it's connected.
